Huachipato relies on a direct and high pressing style to control games through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup aims to win the ball high up the pitch and use quick vertical movements to catch opponents off guard. By focusing on speed and pressing, the team seeks to drive the play forward immediately upon recovery.
The defensive unit begins with 25 between the posts to command the area. A flat back four provides the foundation, with 24 acting as the right back and 27 operating as the left back to provide width. In the middle, 44 and 5 form the central defensive pair, tasked with marking the opposition strikers and winning the second ball. They work together to hold a high line and squeeze the space, ensuring the team stays compact while defending zonally.
In the middle of the pitch, a three-man midfield dictates the tempo and connects the back line to the attack. Player 6 acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Beside them, 8 and 20 operate as two central midfielders who drive forward with the ball and press aggressively in a mid-block. These players are responsible for breaking the line with passes and making late runs into the box to support the front three.
The attacking force uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Player 9 leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the teammates arriving late. On the flanks, 23 and 7 act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to create width. They look to cut inside to create goalscoring chances or deliver crosses into the box. This front line works in combinations to attack the near post and attack the far post during transitions.
One major advantage for Huachipato is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing errors from the opposition back line. The formation also allows for wide overloads when the full backs push up to overlap the wingers. This creates numerical superiority in various areas of the pitch, making it difficult for opponents to track runners or defend the flanks.
This 4-3-3 formation is built for a high intensity game that relies on pressing and quick transitions. It is best suited for facing teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
