Huachipato relies on a defensively solid identity within a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the opponent to overcommit before striking. The team uses this formation to protect the central areas and force play wide.

In goal, 25 manages the defensive line. A back five consisting of 5, 44, and 4 occupies the central positions, while 28 and 11 act as attacking wing backs. Central defenders 5 and 44 focus on winning the header and covering the space behind the wing backs. Player 4 provides stability in the RCB slot. Wing backs 28 and 11 provide the width for Huachipato, pushing high to support the attack but they must track back to maintain the defensive block.

The midfield features a three-man unit with 6, 30, and 14. Player 6 acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. Both 30 and 14 function to connect the lines. They work to pick up runners and press in a mid-block to disrupt the opposition. When the team gains possession, 30 and 14 look to carry the ball forward and move the play through the thirds.

Up front, the team uses a partnership of two forwards, 9 and 23. They operate as a duo to push the opposition back line and hunt for space. Rather than a lone striker, 9 and 23 combine in tight spaces to link up play. These forwards aim to make runs in behind the defenders or hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to join the attack. The goal is to hit in behind on the transition once the ball is won.

This formation offers clear tactical advantages. The back five provides compactness when defending, making it hard for the opponent to play through the middle. There is also a high capacity for wide overloads as 28 and 11 push up to overlap the midfielders. This allows the team to stretch the defence quickly when they transition from defense to attack.

Huachipato uses this 5-3-2 to maintain a strong defensive presence and strike on the break. It is best suited for matches against teams that control possession and leave space behind their full backs.
