Koundé acts as an attacking wing back on the right to provide width, and Balde pushes forward on the left to overlap when the team has possession.

The midfield functions as a two-man engine room tasked with controlling the center of the pitch. Pedri works as one of the two central midfielders, using his passing range to find teammates and connect the defensive line to the attack. Raphinha plays alongside him in the middle, driving forward with the ball and pressing aggressively to win the ball back. This pair must work hard to cover the space between the midfield and the back five, ensuring they stay compact to prevent through balls.
