Starting Lineup

HISHAM (GK) · ABU · AMRIL · NORIAN · A. FIRDAUS · RIDZWAN · IGLES · IJAM · TARMIZI · ZAMIR · FIRDAUS (C)

Barcelona focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and controlling the tempo through a 4-4-2. The team aims to press aggressively to force mistakes from the opposition. This formation is built to allow the players to stay close together and win the second ball quickly to keep the pressure high throughout the game.

HISHAM stays in goal to command the area. The defensive line uses a flat back four with A. FIRDAUS at left back and NORIAN at right back. In the middle, ABU and AMRIL act as the central defenders to defend zonally and hold the line. A. FIRDAUS and NORIAN must track back to prevent crosses, while ABU and AMRIL focus on winning headers and covering for the wider players when they step up into the midfield.

In the middle, RIDZWAN acts as a single pivot to shield the defense. TARMIZI and IJAM play as the central midfielders to carry the ball forward and connect the back line to the attack. IGLES operates in the hole as an attacking ten to find space between the lines. RIDZWAN will drop deep to receive the ball and play short from the back to start the build up in the defensive third.

The attack relies on a striker partnership of ZAMIR and FIRDAUS (C). As the captain, FIRDAUS (C) leads the press from the front to pin the last defender. ZAMIR works to find space and run in behind the opposition defense. The team looks to build attacks through combinations in tight spaces, with IGLES looking to slip through balls to the strikers. Wide players will push up to support the strikers and provide width when the forwards hold up the ball to link up play.

A major advantage for Barcelona is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. Having FIRDAUS (C) and ZAMIR close to the defense makes it hard for opponents to play out from the back. The team also finds numerical superiority in the midfield when IGLES joins the central trio. This allows the team to compress the midfield and win possession back quickly.

This 4-4-2 formation is designed to squeeze the space and dominate through high pressing. It works best against opponents that try to play short from the back and cannot handle intense pressure.
