Pedri plays as an inverted eight, operating in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack. Fermin plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, pressing aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and making late runs into the box to support the attack.

Barcelona uses three attackers across the front to stretch the pitch. Raphinha stays wide on the right to pull defenders away, while Nico cuts inside from the left to find space between the lines. Lewandowski acts as a lone striker and a target man, looking to hold up the ball and find the feet of the midfielders. The forwards work together to press the opposition back line, often looking to hit in behind on the transition once the ball is recovered.

This formation offers significant advantages through numerical superiority in midfield and the ability to spread wide to stretch the defence.
