Starting Lineup

Жоан Гарсия · Бальде · Кубарси · Араухо · Кунде · де Йонг · Педри · Ольмо · Ямаль · Рафинья · Ферран Торрес

Barcelona aims to dominate through aggressive attacking waves and high intensity, utilizing a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to stretch the defence and force the opposition to defend deep in their own half. By pushing many players forward, the team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly through direct vertical passes.

Жоан Гарсия plays between the posts to manage the defensive line. Barcelona uses a flat back four where the defenders must hold a high line to squeeze the space in the middle. Араухо and Кубарси act as the central pair, with Араухо providing aerial strength and Кубарси acting as a ball playing defender to play out from the back. Бальде and Кунде operate as wide defenders, where Бальде provides pace to overlap and Кунде works to balance the side.

The midfield functions as a double pivot to provide some protection for the back four. де Йонг acts as a deep lying playmaker, using his passing range to move the ball from the defenders to the attackers. Педри operates alongside him to connect the lines, often dropping deep to receive the ball and then looking to play through the lines to find the forwards. This duo must work hard to cover the space left behind by the advancing full backs.

The attack is extremely potent with four players positioned high up the pitch. Ольмо and Ферран Торрес operate as a central partnership, with Ольмо looking to find pockets of space between the lines while Ферран Торрес works to find the feet of his teammates. On the flanks, Ямаль and Рафинья provide extreme width, with Ямаль looking to cut inside to create chances. They press the opposition back line relentlessly to force errors.

One major advantage of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push forward to join the wingers. This setup also allows for high pressing in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build play from the back. The sheer number of attackers makes it very hard for the opposition to track every runner into the box.

This 4-2-4 formation is designed to overwhelm opponents through sheer offensive volume. It is best suited for matches where Barcelona needs to break down a low block or when they want to exploit a high line through speed.
