Morecambe looks to control games through a compact mid block using a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup aims to stay hard to beat while looking for quick transitions to catch opponents out of position. The team relies on a heavy concentration of players in the middle of the park to clog passing lanes and force the opposition wide.

Ulreich sits between the posts to organize the defensive line. A flat back four consists of Lucas V. at right back and Kurzawa at left back, both tasked with tracking runners and protecting the flanks. In the center, Maguire uses his aerial strength to clear crosses while Yerry Mina covers the space behind him with aggressive interceptions. The defensive unit stays close together to prevent gaps from appearing between the lines.

The midfield functions as a five man unit designed to dominate the center of the pitch. Milner acts as one half of a double pivot to shield the back four and break up play. Beside him, Campaña holds his position to provide a passing option and recycle possession. Aleñá and Peupion operate in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack, while Pukki plays in the hole to find pockets of space between the opposition lines.

In the attacking phase, the team utilizes a lone striker in Braithwaite to lead the line. He works to hold up the ball and bring the midfielders into the game. Braithwaite stays high to pin the defenders back, which creates space for Pukki to make runs from deep. The wide midfielders must tuck in to maintain the density of the formation, forcing the attack to be built through central combinations or sudden switches of play.

Morecambe finds success by creating numerical superiority in the middle third. By crowding the central zones, Milner and Campaña can intercept passes and launch quick counters. The combination of a deep defensive block and the movement of Pukki allows the team to transition from a defensive stance to an attacking one with speed. This setup also makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle.

This 4-5-1 formation focuses on defensive solidity and central congestion. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession where Morecambe can sit deep and strike on the break.
