Lens Football Formation
Starting Lineup
RISSER (82) · SARR (78) · BAIDOO (78) · GRADIT (73) · BERMONT (72) · HAIDARA (76) · SANGARE (80) · BARBIER (65) · SAINT-MAXIMIN (79) · EDOUARD (77) · REDZIC (73)A heavy high press and rapid transitions define the tactical identity of Lens in this 3-4-3 formation. This lineup focuses on aggressive vertical play and winning the ball back as high up the pitch as possible. By utilizing a wide attacking front, the team aims to stretch opponents and create chaos in the final third.
Protecting the goal is RISSER, who acts as the foundation for the defensive unit. The back three consists of SARR, BAIDOO, and GRADIT, who work as a compact block to defend the central zone. SARR and GRADIT provide cover on the flanks of the backline, while BAIDOO holds the center to intercept passes and win aerial duels. The wide players in midfield, BERMONT and BARBIER, operate as wing backs to provide width and support the defense when the team sits deep.
The central engine room relies on a double pivot consisting of SANGARE and HAIDARA. SANGARE works to shield the back three and break the line with his passing, while HAIDARA drives forward to link the defense with the attack. This pair must press hard to prevent opponents from playing through the middle. Their ability to cover ground allows the wing backs to push up, turning the formation into a more aggressive unit when in possession.
In the attacking third, Lens deploys three forwards to pin back the opposition. EDOUARD acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press, while SAINT-MAXIMIN and REDZIC operate as wide attackers. SAINT-MAXIMIN loves to cut inside from the left to take on defenders with his dribbling, creating space for BERMONT to overlap. REDZIC provides width on the right, looking to cross or switch play to the opposite side.
One major advantage for Lens is the ability to create wide overloads when BARBIER and BERMONT push high into the attacking half. This forces opposition wingers to track back, often leaving their own attackers isolated. Another strength is the coordinated way the front three and the midfield duo press in waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back.
This 3-4-3 formation makes Lens a dangerous opponent through constant pressure and verticality. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play under pressure or those that leave large spaces behind their full backs.
