Cubarsí and Gerard Martín form the central duo, where Cubarsí acts as a ball playing defender with his composure and passing range. Koundé provides defensive stability on the right, often sitting deeper to cover the space behind the midfield. Cancelo plays as an attacking full back, pushing up the flank to provide width and deliver crosses. The defensive unit must step up together to catch attackers offside.

The midfield functions as a dense five man unit. De Jong sits in a deep role to shield the back four, using his press resistance and ball carrying to move the team forward. Pedri plays alongside him to connect the lines, using his vision and passing range to break the line. Olmo, Lamine, and Fermín occupy the more advanced positions to support the attack. This heavy presence in the center allows the team to maintain control through short passes and quick shifts in play.

Lewandowski leads the line as a lone striker, holding up the ball and using his movement in the box to find space. He relies on his finishing to convert chances created by the players around him. Lamine and Olmo push into the pockets of space between the lines, allowing Lamine to use his dribbling to beat players in one on one situations. Cancelo provides the width on the left, while Fermín and the other midfielders make runs to support the front line.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the midfield. Having five players in the center makes it difficult for opponents to win the ball back. The team also creates wide overloads when Cancelo overlaps to join the attack. This allows for quick switches of play to the opposite side. Coordinated waves of pressing also force mistakes from the opponent's defense.
