The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of Arbeloda and Truyts. These two players sit in front of the defense to shield the back line and intercept play. Arbeloda and Truyts work to win the ball and then immediately look to break the line with vertical passes. They act as the connection point, moving the ball from the defenders to the attackers. This two man midfield must be disciplined to cover the gaps left when the full backs push high.

Barcelona uses a heavy front line with four dedicated attackers. Martial occupies the left wing to cut inside and create chances, while Hoedt stays wide on the right. In the center, Valks and Marin act as the two central forwards. The goal is for Valks and Marin to occupy the central defenders and hold up the ball, creating space for the wingers to run into. These four players press the opposition defense in coordinated waves to force turnovers.

This formation offers significant attacking numbers and creates wide overloads when Munoz and Govrei push forward. By using two central strikers, Barcelona can isolate central defenders in one on one situations.
