Lewandowski acts as a lone striker at the top of the formation. He uses his strength to hold up the ball and bring others into the play. Moving from deep, midfielders like Olmo and Lamine cut inside to create central threats. When the ball is lost, the team uses a high press with Lewandowski leading the way. Such movements create chances to win the ball back near the opponent's goal through coordinated runs.

One major strength is the numerical superiority in midfield. Having five players allows the team to intercept passes and dominate the ball in the middle third. Wide overloads are common when Cancelo pushes forward to join the attack.
