Ahead of them, Talvitie, Söderbäck, and Ruoppi occupy the central and half spaces to link the play. This group must press hard to intercept passes and immediately look to switch play. They work together to clog the passing lanes and prevent the opponent from playing through the middle.

A lone striker, O. Liimatta, leads the line. Since there is no support immediately around him, O. Liimatta must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to run forward. The attacking plan relies on the five midfielders pushing up to support the transition. The wingers in this formation must track back to help the full backs while staying ready to sprint into space once the ball is recovered in the middle third.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, primarily the ability to maintain extreme compactness when defending deep. The five midfielders create a wall that makes it difficult for opponents to find gaps between the lines. Another strength is the potential to create numerical superiority in the center of the pitch, allowing the team to win second balls.
