In the attacking third, Joao Pedro acts as a lone striker. He is tasked to hold up the ball and bring the midfielders into play. The width comes from Balde pushing high on the left, which allows the midfielders like Raphinha to cut inside and occupy central areas. When the team loses the ball, the front five press high in coordination to win it back quickly near the opponent's goal.

This 4-5-1 formation offers significant numerical superiority in the middle of the park. By crowding the center, Barcelona can intercept passes and keep the ball moving through quick combinations.
