Binacional Football Formation
Starting Lineup
PRINCIPE · CALDERON · JANY · FABRICIO · FABIAN · GAVANCHO · GUSTAVO · YEFERSON · GIRO · CASAS · PEZOBinacional plays with a direct and vertical identity using a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to strike quickly and rely on heavy pressing to disrupt the opposition in their own half. The goal is to win the ball and get it into the final third as fast as possible to catch the defense off guard.
Pezo stays between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four functions as a flat line with CASAS acting as the right back to cover the wide area. GIRO plays at left back and provides width when needed. In the center, FABIAN and YEFERSON work as the central defensive pairing, where they focus on winning the second ball and clearing the lines. They aim to hold the line and keep the space behind them tight to prevent runners from getting through.
The midfield works in two banks of four to maintain a compact shape. CALDERON and JANY occupy the central roles, where they must shield the defense and press in a mid-block to win possession. CALDERON often acts as the carrier to move the ball from deep, while JANY works to intercept passes. On the flanks, PRINCIPE and FABRICIO act as wide midfielders who must track back to help the full backs and then push up to support the attack. This unit connects the defense to the forwards by recycling possession and playing through the lines.
Binacional utilizes a partnership of two forwards to pressure the opposition back line. GAVANCHO and GUSTAVO operate as a strike duo, often looking to hit in behind on the transition. GAVANCHO works as a pressing centre-forward to force long balls, while GUSTAVO looks to hold up the ball and lay it off for teammates. They look to receive on the half-turn to create space for runs in behind. The attack relies on quick combinations and crossing from the wide areas to find the strikers in the box.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for Binacional. The two banks of four make it easy to stay compact when defending deep. By using a strike partnership, the team can better isolate defenders in one on one situations. The presence of two central midfielders allows for a strong presence to win the second ball and maintain pressure in the middle of the pitch.
The 4-4-2 formation allows Binacional to remain defensively solid while remaining dangerous on the break. It is best suited for games where the team needs to sit deep and counter at pace against more dominant sides.
