This back two must stay compact to prevent being caught by long balls, relying on the midfield to block passing lanes and squeeze the space.

The midfield unit is incredibly dense, working to dominate the center of the pitch. De Jong acts as the primary carrier who drives forward with the ball to progress through the thirds, while Koundé and Martín operate in a central pairing to shield the two defenders. Pedri operates in the right half space to create from deep and link the play, while F. López pushes higher on the left to add extra numbers in the attacking third. This group works to recycle possession and ensure the team always has a passing option to build triangles.

In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to pin the opposition back line. Olmo plays as a central striker who looks to find the feet of the striker and link up with his teammates. Yamal stays wide on the right to stretch the defence, often looking to cut inside to create goal scoring chances.
