López operate in the half spaces to link the play, with Pedri using his exceptional passing range to find teammates. Raphinha plays as an attacking ten, operating in the hole to create chances and press the opposition midfielders.

The attacking front three utilizes a wide presence to stretch the defense. Yamal plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and threaten the goal, while Gordon stays wide on the left to provide width. J. Alvarez acts as the pressing centre-forward, tasked to lead the line and find the feet of the striker during combinations. This front line works to pin the last defender and create runs in behind through quick passing.

One major advantage of this 2-5-3 formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to recycle possession easily. The presence of five players in the middle makes it difficult for opponents to bypass the midfield block.
