Norway focuses on a vertical style of play designed to hit teams with speed through a 2-5-3 formation. The lineup is built to win the ball and immediately look for ways to break the line with direct passes. This setup relies on a heavy central presence to control the middle of the pitch while leaving significant space behind the defense for quick transitions.

Sinisalo sits between the posts to manage the defensive unit. The back line consists of a narrow two man unit with Thiaw and Høgsberg acting as the central defenders. Thiaw and Høgsberg must be prepared to step up and squeeze the space when the team presses, or drop back to cover for long balls. Because there are only two defenders, they must be extremely careful to hold the line and prevent opponents from running in behind.

The midfield is packed to create a dense block in the center. Dahl and Svensson form a double pivot to shield the two defenders and win the second ball. Nypan acts as the central engine, working to connect the defense to the attacking players. Haraldsson and Jóhannesson operate in the half spaces as attacking midfielders to drive forward with the ball and create chances. This five man midfield group aims to win it back high up the pitch and control the tempo of the game.

In the final third, Norway utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition. Katz and Campbell play as wide attackers, with Katz staying wide to pull the defense apart and Campbell looking to cut inside to create goal scoring opportunities. Erling Haaland operates as a lone striker, using his physical strength and movement to pin the last defender. The goal is to use the midfield to feed the front three, allowing Haaland to find space to run in behind or link up play with the wingers.
