Starting Lineup

Barcelona focuses on aggressive control and high pressure using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the pitch by squeezing the space in the opposition half and forcing turnovers. Fermín plays as the attacking ten, looking to occupy the pockets between the opposition lines. On the flanks, Balde and Koundé act as wide midfielders who provide the necessary width. Balde pushes high to support the left side, while Koundé holds his position to manage the right flank and link play.

The attacking front three consists of three players who push deep into the final third. Raphinha and Gordon act as wide attackers, with Raphinha often looking to cut inside and Gordon stretching the play on the right. Yamal plays as the striker, tasked with finding space between the defenders and making runs in behind. This front line works to press the opposition back line immediately upon loss of possession. They use quick combinations to break the lines and create scoring chances through central penetration.

One major advantage of this 2-5-3 formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it very hard for opponents to play out from the back.
