Starting Lineup

Barcelona aims to control the game through heavy possession and high pressing in a 2-5-3 formation. Raphinha operates as a pressing centre-forward, working to harass the opposition defenders and find feet of the striker in tight spaces. Gordon and Yamal act as wide attackers, with Yamal often looking to cut inside from the right to create shooting opportunities. The team builds the attack by using the midfield to play through the lines, looking to isolate the opposition wide players in one on one situations or find runs in behind the defensive line.

The main tactical advantages of this formation are the numerical superiority in midfield and the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By flooding the middle with five players, Barcelona can easily win the second ball and dominate ball retention. This setup also allows for wide overloads when Balde and Koundé join the attacking movements, making it difficult for a compact defense to track all the runners.
