Because the back line is so small, Gerard Martín and Curbasi have to be comfortable playing out from the back and managing large spaces behind them if the ball is lost.

The midfield unit is the engine of the Barcelona lineup, featuring five players that occupy the central and wide areas. Cancelo plays on the left and Koundé on the right to provide width and help the transition. In the center, Pedri and De Jong work as a double pivot to control the tempo, with Pedri using his high passing range to find teammates. Fermín sits ahead of them as an attacking ten, looking to find pockets of space and press aggressively to win the ball back. This five man group connects the defense to the attack by spreading wide and then packing the center.

Up front, the team uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Yamal and Gordon act as wide wingers, with Yamal looking to cut inside and Gordon playing on the flank to provide width. Kroupi leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and link up play with the attacking midfielders. The movement is designed to create runs in behind and pull defenders out of position through quick combinations.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to dominate the ball and control the tempo of the game. The presence of Cancelo and Koundé also allows for wide overloads, creating situations where the wingers can isolate a one on one. Additionally, the high positioning of Fermín, Yamal, and Gordon helps the team press in a mid-block or higher to force a long ball from the opponent.
