These two central defenders must play out from the back and be ready to cover large amounts of space behind them to sweep behind a high line. They must stay compact to prevent through balls while the rest of the team pushes up the pitch.

The midfield is a dense five man block designed to control the center and the wide areas. Pedri and Rodri operate in the central area to connect the defense and attack, with Rodri protecting the center and Pedri looking to play through the lines. Olmo plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space. Cancelo and Eric provide the width, with Cancelo operating as an attacking wing back on the left and Eric working on the right to help recycle possession and spread wide.

In the attacking third, the team utilizes three attackers to stretch the defense. Ferran plays as a pressing centre forward to force long balls from the opposition. Adeyemi and Yamal act as wide wingers, with Adeyemi pushing high on the left and Yamal looking to cut inside from the right. This trio works to isolate wide players in one on one situations and create runs in behind the opposition back line. They combine in tight spaces to pull defenders out of position.

This formation offers huge tactical advantages through numerical superiority in midfield. By crowding the center with Pedri, Rodri, and Olmo, Barcelona can win the second ball easily and control the tempo.
