The midfield acts as the engine room with a five man block designed to squeeze the space. Cancelo operates as a wide midfielder on the left while Eric holds the right side. In the center, Pedri and Rodri form a double pivot to control the tempo and recycle possession. Rodri provides a screen to deny the pivot of the opposition, while Pedri looks to play through the lines. Fermín plays as an attacking ten to connect the midfield to the front three and makes late runs into the box to catch defenders off guard.

In the attacking third, Barcelona uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Olmo leads the line as a pressing centre forward to force a long ball from the opposition. Gordon plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside, while Yamal operates on the right to isolate wide players in one on one situations. These three work to combine in tight spaces and create runs in behind. The combination of wide players and central runners ensures the front line can attack in combinations or break quickly in transition.

A major strength of this Barcelona lineup is the massive numerical superiority in the midfield. With five players in the center, the team can easily outnumber opponents and maintain control. Another advantage is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using Fermín and Olmo to trigger a press from the front.
