Rodri shields the defence while Pedri looks to receive on the half-turn and progress through the thirds. Fermín operates as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines. On the flanks, Cancelo acts as a wide left midfielder to provide width, while Eric occupies the right side to help recycle possession and maintain the compact shape.

In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Yamal and Adeyemi play as wide wingers who cut inside to create space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. Yamal often looks to isolate a one on one wide. Abdelkarim acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and wait for the supporting runners.
