Racing looks to sit deep and defend in a compact block to catch opponents on the transition using a 5-4-1. This lineup focuses on being defensively solid and limiting the space between the lines to force the opposition into wide areas. The goal is to absorb pressure and use the width of the pitch to launch sudden attacks when the ball is won back.

Arana stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. A back five consists of Maguete as the left centre-back, FICHAJE in the middle, and Canales as the right centre-back. These players work to defend zonally and win the second ball. Andrés Martín acts as a left wing back to provide width, while Iñigo Vicente plays as the right wing back to cover the flank. This five man line aims to squeeze the space and protect the middle of the pitch.

The midfield functions as a flat four to block passing lanes. Pedro and Pablo R operate as the central pair to shield the defence and fight for possession in the middle. Mantilla plays on the right side to track back and support the wing back, while FICHAJE takes the left side to maintain the line. This group works to press in a mid-block and ensure the team remains difficult to break down through the centre.

Erikson operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball and fight against the opposing centre-backs. The attack relies on the wing backs, Andrés Martín and Iñigo Vicente, to provide the width needed to stretch the defence. When Racing wins the ball, the forwards look to hit in behind on the transition or find Erikson to link up play. The front line must press from the front to force a long ball and prevent the opposition from playing out from the back.

Racing offers several tactical advantages with this formation. The team can create compactness when defending, making it very hard for opponents to find gaps. There is also the potential for speed of transition once the midfield wins the ball. By using the wing backs to overlap, the team can create wide overloads to catch a tired defence.
