Lens focuses on a high press and quick transitions through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and use wide players to stretch the opposition. The goal is to maintain intensity and use the verticality of the attackers to break the lines quickly.

R.Risser starts between a back three to act as the last line of defense. The defensive unit functions with I.Ganiou as the central man to organize the line. S.Abdulhamid plays as the right centre-back to cover the wide areas, while M.Udol operates as the left centre-back. This back three must stay compact to deny space between the lines. When the team pushes up, these defenders need to hold the line and be ready to sweep behind a high line if the opponent tries to play long.

The midfield works as a double pivot to shield the defense and control the center. A.Bulatović and Y.Titraoui sit in front of the back three to protect the zone and pick up runners. They act as the engine room to win the second ball and recycle possession. Further forward, M.Cuisance and T.Hazard operate in the half spaces as attacking midfielders. These two players are tasked to carry the ball forward and connect the defensive unit to the front three, often looking to play through the lines to find the attackers.

Lens utilizes three attackers to pin the opposition back. F.Ivanović acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and engage the center-backs. On the wings, M.Skóraś plays as a right winger to provide width, while F.Thauvin acts as a left winger. Both wingers are expected to cut inside to create goal scoring chances or hit in behind on the transition. The front three press from the front to force a long ball and prevent the opponent from playing short from the back.
