MATHIEU acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit works as a flat back four with RUBEN playing as the right back and JHOANNER as the left back. RUBEN and JHOANNER are expected to push up to provide width while the central pairing of MAIK and JONATHAN hold the line. MAIK and JONATHAN must stay compact to defend zonally and cover for the wide defenders when they move forward. They need to be ready to step up to set the offside trap or drop deep to protect the space behind.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier. AMADOU sits in a deeper role to shield the defense and protect the center of the pitch. MICHAËL works alongside him to connect the defensive and attacking lines by carrying the ball forward. MEZIAN plays in the hole as an attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space between the lines. This trio works to compress the midfield and ensures that Lens can recycle possession when needed.

The attacking lineup uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. ODSONNE acts as a pressing centre-forward to force the opposition defenders into mistakes. On the flanks, MICHAL and FLORIAN operate as wide wingers who aim to hug the touchline to create space centrally. MICHAL and FLORIAN are tasked to cut inside or deliver early crosses into the box.
