Moreirense Football Formation
Starting Lineup
ANDRÉ (FERREIRA) · DINIS (PINTO) · MARACÁS · GILBERTO (BATISTA) · KIKO · MATEJA (STJEPANOVIC) · RODRI (ALONSO) · JOÃO (VELOSO) · KIKO (BONDOSO) · LANDERSON · YAN (MARANHÃO)Moreirense focuses on a direct and aggressive style of play using a 4-3-3 formation. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move quickly through the thirds to catch the opposition off guard. This lineup is built to stretch the defence and use width to create chances in the final third.
André operates between the posts to organize the back line. A flat back four provides the foundation, with Kiko acting as an attacking left back to provide width. Dinis plays as the right back, tasked to balance the defensive line while supporting the attack. In the center, Gilberto and Maracás form the defensive pairing, where they must defend zonally and win the second ball to stop counter attacks.
The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Rodri sits in the middle to shield the defence and recycle possession when the team needs to slow the tempo. Mateja works alongside him to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. João plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find the feet of the striker or arrive late into the box to score.
The front line uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Landerson plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and find space in the half-spaces. Kiko stays wide on the right to stretch the defence and deliver crosses. Yan acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and make runs in behind to disrupt the opposition centre backs.
Moreirense gains a significant advantage through their ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing the opposition into mistakes. The combination of wide wingers and overlapping full backs allows for wide overloads that can isolate wide players in one on one situations. This creates constant pressure on the opponent's flanks.
This 4-3-3 formation relies on high intensity and quick transitions to unsettle the opposition. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line or struggle to manage pressure in their own half.
