PATRICK sits between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back four works as a flat back four when defending in a mid-block, with STEVEN acting as a defensive wing back to hold the line. BROOKS functions as an attacking full back, looking to overlap the winger to create width. In the center, MALTE and ERIC operate as ball playing defenders who look to play short from the back and break the line with vertical passes. The unit must stay compact to prevent opponents from playing through the middle.

The midfield uses a three-man midfield with a carrier to control the tempo. TAHA and ANDRÉ occupy the central zones to shield the defence and win the second ball. SANTIAGO plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find the feet of the striker or arrive late into the box. TAHA works to compress the midfield and disrupt the opponent, while ANDRÉ connects the defensive and attacking lines. This group is tasked with winning it back high up the pitch to trigger quick attacks.

Columbus employs three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. WESSAM acts as a pressing centre-forward, constantly working to force a long ball from the opposition. BRAIS and ANASS are inverted wingers who cut inside to create central overloads, leaving space for the full backs to push up. The attack relies on combinations in tight spaces and runs in behind to exploit gaps. When the team transitions, the forwards look to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opposition out of position.

One major advantage for Columbus is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, putting immense pressure on the opposing goalkeeper and defenders. The formation also offers wide overloads when STEVEN and BROOKS push up to support the wingers. This setup makes it difficult for opponents to play out from the back without making errors.
