Starting Lineup

This pair must be disciplined to protect the space behind them, as they often find themselves in a midfield battle against larger numbers. They are responsible for recycling possession and finding the wide players when the central lanes are blocked.

Barcelona uses three attackers across the front with Raphinha leading the line as a pressing centre forward. Raphinha works to harass the opposition back line to force a long ball. Olmo plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to create more central presence, while Yamal stays wide on the right to isolate the opposition in one on one situations. This front three creates runs in behind and uses the width provided by Cancelo and Koundé to stretch the defence.
