Alaba provides stability in the left channel, while D.Alves operates in the right central role to drive forward with the ball. Griezmann and Firmino operate in the half spaces as attacking midfielders, pressing aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and connecting the midfield to the front three.

The attacking front three utilizes extreme width to stretch the defence. Dembélé stays wide on the right to isolate defenders one on one, while Kvaratskhelia uses his dribbling to cut inside from the left. Gullit leads the line as a powerful presence in the center, capable of winning the header or finding space to receive on the half turn. This front line is designed to create combinations through quick one twos and runs in behind, often using the wide players to pull defenders out of position.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create massive overloads in the attacking third, making it difficult for opponents to mark everyone. The midfield provides numerical superiority in the center, allowing the team to recycle possession easily. Another strength is the immediate pressure applied by the five midfielders and three attackers, which allows the team to squeeze the space and force a long ball from the opposition.
