This is for attacking football , in attack Sanchez looks for space behind the defense, whilst Messi creates play from the centre, Neymar and Pedro make runs targeting the space between the full backs ,centrebacks and the defensive midfielders to expose space behind the centrebacks .Iniesta moves into the attack whilst drawing the central defensive midfielders to himself and creating more space for Meymar, Messi and Pedro .Cesc plays a holding role and may join the attack occasionally ,whilst Song moves from the back line to join Cesc in the center for stronger holding play, the rest of the players ,Alba and Alves play covring the wings from the counter atack whilst Pique plays sweeper with Valdez.

In defense , Messi, Pedro and Neymar drop back to join Cesc and Iniesta and Song forming a wall on the edge of the defensive third whilst sanchez stays just below the centre line waiting for the counter attack .

This formation can be played as a high pressure tactic against weaker teams or when the team has nothing to lose , it can also be used as a possession tactic when the team is defending a lead, but normally and best works as a counter attacking of full attacking system.
