About this formation:
As David Wagner's tactics of going full-out attack after the play-off semi-final second leg against Leicester City worked, he is using them again, so Nigel Adkins has decided to use his tactics of going ultra defensive, which he first used in Hull's play-off semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough, again. There are a few changes in the team, however. Abel Hernandez replaces Adama Diomande because of an ankle injury the Dane sustained, Tom Huddlestone comes in and Curtis Davies is in in place of Ondrej Mazuch. -

About this formation:
For the second leg, Middlesbrough have gone full-on attack so Nigel Adkins has been clever and changed formations so Hull can adapt to Tony Pulis' attacking style for the game. He has decided to change the starting XI from the first leg at the KCOM Stadium to a 5-2-1-2. Marshall remains in goal. Ondrej Mazuch will come into the back line which, apart from the Czech defender, remains unchanged, the other four being Odubajo, Dawson, Hector and Clark.
There are two other changes in midfield, Evandro and Meyler coming in. Grosicki moves to CAM. And in the forward positions, Dicko remains after his goal, but Adama Diomande comes in for Abel Hernandez, who starts on the bench.
